Video Production Blog – Capture Motion Media
Capture Motion Media began in 1999 with its focus in video production. At the time I envisioned that video production would be published to the world wide web in regular rotation by now. Well I was right, and have been proud to be able to lead the way for many companies making the jump with their advertising utilizing video production to the world wide web. Since then I have probably produced, written, directed, and or worked as a crew member on over 500 different productions since then. And yes, it has been very interesting and rewarding in many ways. From learning about new industries and meeting some many wonderful people, and of course, a couple not so wonderful people as well. Below is a chart that shows the trends in Google searches for the term “video production in the last 90 days. Yes we do our homework here for your industry and ours.
Things to Consider
Depending on how much experience you have producing video for the web or TV, will dictate how successful you are in most cases. There will be few people out there that hits a home run right out of the gate with little or no experience. But those people are very few in number, for most of us have to learn about things before we master them.
A couple of things to consider when seeking out video production services are:
- What is your budget?
Answer: Reason being obviously you do not want to go over your head with this. But you also do not want undermine yourself as well. Some of you are probably saying well of course we know that budget is important to know, but you would be surprised how many people have no idea what they want to spend or what they should be spending.
- Do you know a reputable video production company?
Answer: Well of course you do now, but I know many of you know a guy that has a camera and has edited your sister’s wedding. All I can say is look into portfolios and satisfied client testimonials before hiring anyone that just has wedding experience. Mind you, I did shoot and produce weddings also, so nothing against you guys; but corporate video production screams quality that must be gained or learned over time. If they do not work in after effects/motion or even Maya/Cinema 4d they are not visual graphic communicators in the world of corporate giants.
- Does your project require writing or pre-production?
Answer: Most projects I have been involved in have either someone heading the writing department or have no experience here at all. Both options are fine with Capture Motion Media. We enjoy writing and creating fresh content for our clients. In fact, it has become a passion these days.
- What is your estimated delivery date and to what mediums?
Answer: Of course we need a time to think scheduling and arranging for shot locations and such. So keep in mind what time frame your looking to turn projects around at whether it is 2 weeks or 6 months. Generally for us we can turn 30-60 second spots around in a week maximum, while longer range projects such as documentaries and or feature length projects are more in line with 6 months to 1 year. When we speak of delivery forms as mediums we mean; is it internet/web delivery or is it TV/Cable network distribution. Or it could also be DVD/Blu-ray content delivery also.
